How do I register for a school tour, school performance, or teacher program?
All registration is now handled online. Educators can submit requests for a school tour, school performance, or teacher program by filling out and submitting the following forms:
School Tours
Performance and Residency Programs
In-School Residencies
Teacher Professional Development Programs
Tours, performances, and programs are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
You may apply for a tour date, bus scholarship, and admission scholarship on the registration form. Make sure you have gathered all the appropriate information you will need before filling out the online request form (i.e. what tour you want, answers to scholarship questions, etc.).
Within ten days after submitting your online request, you will receive an e-mail confirmation of your tour date, bus scholarship, and admission scholarship if granted. If there is a conflict with your date or questions regarding your program, we will contact you via e-mail.
How do I know which program is best for my students?
All of our tours and performing arts programs are grade specific. For more information about school tours, please click here. For more information about performing arts programs and residencies, please click here.
What if I am new to the Skirball?
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in our programs! Important information describing the Skirball, its programs, and our resources for teachers can be found here. Please visit this page first before attempting to register for a program.
How many students can I bring?
The minimum group size for all school tours is fifteen students. The maximum is forty or sixty students depending on the grade-specific tour. Group size restrictions are listed under School Tours. You may request visits on multiple days to accommodate all of your students by submitting multiple requests online. Please note that bus scholarships are limited to four per school, per school year.
Specific information about performing arts programs can be found here. Please e-mail

to inquire about group sizes. Please note that bus scholarships for school tours are not transferable to performing arts programs.
How many chaperones do I need?
One adult (teachers included) is suggested for every ten students in Grades 1–4 and for every fifteen students in Grades 5–12. Four adult chaperones are always admitted free of charge; additional adults will be charged $7 each. Chaperones are responsible for monitoring and accompanying students at all times during their visit. Due to space limitations, we suggest keeping the total number of adult chaperones to a maximum of ten. However, we will accommodate additional chaperones.
Are scholarships available for buses?
The Skirball provides bus scholarships on a first-come, first-served basis to public schools in need. You may apply for a bus scholarship online when you submit an online tour request. Scholarship approval will be included with your tour confirmation, including a serial number and detailed bus-ordering instructions.
NOTE: Bus scholarships are not transferable and are limited to four per school per school year and to $380 each. Please note that schools that receive bus scholarships are responsible for making their own bus arrangements; the Skirball does not book or cancel bus reservations on behalf of schools.
Are scholarships available for admission?
Yes, a limited number of scholarships are available for gallery programs to public schools unable to pay admission. You may apply for an admission scholarship when you submit your online tour request here. Scholarship approval will be indicated in your confirmation e-mail.
Teachers applying for admission scholarships will be asked the following three questions on the online form:
- What financial restraints prevent you from paying the admission fee?
- How will a visit to the Skirball supplement your classroom curriculum?
- How does the Skirball’s mission dovetail with your teaching practices?
Unfortunately, admission scholarships are not available for performing arts programs.
On which days do you offer school programs?

How do I apply for an in-school artist residency program?

Is there a gift shop?
Yes. While students are not allowed to visit Audrey's, the Skirball Museum Store, during their school visit, we do offer a $3 goody bag so that students can bring home mementos of their trip to the Skirball. Teachers also receive a 10% discount at Audrey’s Museum Store—all year round—off books, art supplies, music, and more. Please show your teacher ID to receive these benefits. Teachers also receive special discount coupons when they complete an online evaluation of one of our tours or programs after their visit.
May we take pictures?
There is no photography allowed in our changing exhibition galleries. You may take photos in Noah's Ark at the Skirball, the core exhibition, Visions and Values: Jewish Life from Antiquity to America, as well as in the classrooms and courtyards.
