ADMISSION:
Included with Museum admission: $10 General; $7 Seniors and Full-Time Students; $5 Children 2-12; Free to Members and Children under 2; Free to all on Thursdays
Ever wonder what launched Noah's Ark at the Skirball? Then stop by All Aboard!, a display of arks, paintings, and textiles from the wonderful Noah's Ark folk-art collection gifted to the Skirball by philanthropist Lloyd E. Cotsen. You'll view an array of animals and arks crafted around the globe, from Mexico and Ethiopia to the Philippines and the United States.
Then find out how some of the fantastic animals aboard Noah's Ark at the Skirball, like the hedgehog made of industrial tubing or the ram with the bicycle-seat head, were originally conceived. Sprung from the inventive minds of Alan Maskin, a principal of Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects of Seattle, and Christopher Green, a New York-based puppeteer and artist, these wildly imaginative creatures consist of recycled materials and repurposed everyday objects. View preliminary design sketches of more than thirty animals paired with a close-up of how the animal looks today aboard the ark.
THE INSTALLATION OF ALL ABOARD! ARKS AND ANIMALS AT THE SKIRBALL IS MADE POSSIBLE BY SUPPORT FROM AN ANONYMOUS DONOR, CARYLON FOUNDATION, AND THE SKIRBALL FOUNDATION
