Celebrate the last day of Light & Noir: Exiles and Émigrés in Hollywood, 1933–1950 by attending a screening of the PBS documentary Cinema’s Exiles: From Hitler to Hollywood, which traces the experiences of exiles who took refuge in Hollywood and examines their impact on German and American cinema.
In addition to film excerpts, this fascinating documentary includes clips of interviews with directors Fritz Lang, Billy Wilder, and Fred Zinnemann; Marlene Dietrich’s Blue Angel screen test; rarely seen archival and historical footage; home movies and photographs provided by descendants; and eyewitness accounts of the era.
