Paul Muni plays the part of French chemist and microbiologist Louis Pasteur, today renowned for his discoveries in vaccination and pasteurization, but deemed a quack by his contemporary medical community.
The film helped to establish Warner Bros. as a producer of “prestige pictures” after almost a decade of being known primarily for crime dramas.
