Growing Up Fairfax

Sunday, July 28, 1:00 p.m.

In conjunction with the exhibition Gary Baseman: The Door Is Always Open, listen as Gary Baseman reminisces with two childhood friends, TV producer Seth Kurland (Friends) and educator/radio host Barry Smolin (KPFK), about growing up in L.A.’s Fairfax District in the '70s and '80s and how it influenced their careers.

During the closing week of the exhibition Gary Baseman: The Door Is Always Open, participate in a special Members-only gallery tour led by Skirball curators and the artist himself.

PRIVATE GUIDED TOURS

Gary Baseman: The Door Is Always Open

Groups of 10 or more are invited to book a private, docent-led tour.

Explore the creative world of artist Gary Baseman by taking an “open-house” tour of the exhibition Gary Baseman: The Door Is Always Open. Available to groups of ten or more, Tuesday–Sunday, May 7–August 10, 2013.

Experience special occasions and holiday festivities in the “dining room”; travel around the world with his friend Toby in the “hallway”; learn of his family’s history in both war-time Poland and as immigrants to America in the “study”; revisit his success as a commercial artist in the “office”; and enjoy his sense of games and play in the “den”. 

Admission:

The per-person fees for a private guided tour are as follows: $7 General, Seniors, and Full-Time Students; $4 Children 2–12; FREE to Children under 2
