Jam Tasting with Coldwater Canyon Provisions
Sunday, July 13, 3:30 p.m.
- FREE; no reservations
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Sample the handcrafted, vegan-friendly, and gluten-free jams, jellies, pickles, and chutneys of one of Zagat’s “20 LA Food Artisans You Need To Know,” Coldwater Canyon Provisions, with purveyor Rondo Mieczkowski at Audrey’s Museum Store.
Every flavorful creation is made with all Kosher ingredients and the finest California family–farmed, pesticide-free produce using Mieczkowski’s Polish grandmother’s heirloom recipes. Talk with him as he provides inspired cooking and cocktail uses for each of his delectable and distinctive offerings, and learn the histories of some of his preferred fruit varieties, such as the Baba Raspberry, named for the Idyllwild, CA grandmother who discovered them. Be sure to try the LA County Fair 2010 “Best in Show” Strawberry Rhubarb Jam—the family recipe that started it all—as well as the Pomegranate Jelly (which happens to complement the pomegranate-inspired art installation Fallen Fruit of the Skirball, now on view).
All products from North Hollywood–based Coldwater Canyon Provisions are prepared and packaged in mason jars in the city of Pasadena. A portion of all proceeds goes to Under the Bridges and In the Streets, a nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding LA County’s homeless community.
Also for food lovers—Arrive early and attend a talk by Mark Russ Federman, former owner of the famed Lower East Side lox and herring emporium Russ & Daughters. Learn more and purchase tickets to the talk here…
