Last Weekends of the Month

Saturday, February 28–Sunday, March 1

  • Included with Museum admission; no reservations

All ages; children must be accompanied by an adult

Bring the whole family to the Skirball’s Last Weekends of the Month. These fun-filled Saturdays and Sundays feature special last-weekend-only performances and activities that change every month. Take part in related art activities in the Family Art Studio, too.

Drop in anytime during regular Museum hours; last entry at 4:30 p.m.

Join local artisan group SewCranky in creating fabric wallets and water bottle bags using antique hand-crank sewing machines. The whole family will enjoy learning about this traditional craft, practiced by many Jewish garment makers in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries.

MARCH 28–29

2:00 p.m.

Enjoy forty-five-minute musical performances in the family amphitheater by two bands sure to delight families with children of all ages. On Saturday, Aaron Nigel Smith and his band play danceable reggae tunes about community and togetherness. On Sunday, L.A.'s own Jambo shares a unique brand of American roots music, taking families on a journey from New Orleans jazz to Mississippi blues to Chicago-style ragtime.

APRIL 25–26

11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Join the Skirball’s performance ensemble in the family amphitheater for “An Ark for All,” a theatrical retelling of the Noah’s Ark story. Through puppetry, audience participation, music, and “special effects,” experience the time-honored flood story along with animal characters as they learn about community and compassion.
