ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Watch two films that provide vastly different views of the relationship between Israel and Latin America.
In The Valderama Sisters, Lucy, Rosa, and Flor Valderama are former Catholics seeking a path to Judaism and to Israel, which they believe is part of their destiny. The film accompanies them during the difficult process of conversion, including their departure from Peru and the culture shock they experience upon arriving in Israel.
In My Own Telenovela, a journey of self-discovery and redemption, filmmaker Jorge Weller travels back to his native Argentina, which he left twenty-two years earlier in order to immigrate to Israel. With film crew in tow, he helps care for his ailing father and developmentally disabled younger sister and eventually comes to understand the meaning of home and family.
