The Films of Amos Gitai

One of Israel’s foremost filmmakers, Amos Gitai is also one of its staunchest social critics. His films reflect both his love for his country and his enduring hope that Israeli society can be improved. Called “Israel’s one-man new wave” by The Village Voice, Gitai has been nominated for Golden Palm and Golden Lion awards at the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals. His extraordinary and wide-ranging body of work explores history, exile, religion, and social control through both documentary and fiction.
