About the Program
Bring your students to visit three exhibitions—This Light of Ours: Activist Photographers of the Civil Rights Movement, The American Library by Yinka Shonibare CBE RA, and RECLAIMED: A Family Painting.
Each exhibition sparks conversation about embracing diversity, honoring the dignity and contributions of all members of our society, and securing equal rights for all. Together we will learn about people who fought for the expansion of Civil Rights and the impact of their work on our lives today. Students will discuss the power of telling their own stories and the value of reclaiming one's experiences and narratives.
Content Warning
Please be aware that some of the photographs in This Light of Ours contain disturbing images of violence, including police brutality and anti-Black hate speech.
