When you view the two portraits of Ethiopian Jews painted by Kehinde Wiley—as part of his series “The World Stage: Israel”—be sure to look beyond the canvases too. The carved decoration at the top of each frame features three symbolic components linked to Jewish religious art: the hands of Kohen, a symbol of priestly blessing; the Lion of Judah, a symbol of the Jewish people; and the two tablets bearing the Ten Commandments in Hebrew. #heritageMW #museumweek #WorldStageIsrael | Paintings by #KehindeWiley.
