About the Program
Building upon strong foundations in Mexican folk music plus their everyday experiences as Chicanas living in LA, this female mariachi trio performs a sound that reflects their city.
Created by Mary Alfaro, Vaneza Calderón, and Rosalie Rodriguez, La Victoria has been actively performing in concerts, at private engagements, on television, and more since 2015. All three musicians have professional backgrounds in mariachi music and a commitment to preserving its essence. Playing both contemporary songs and folk standards, the trio takes audiences on an emotional and uplifting musical journey. In each song, Rodriguez’s violin drives the melodies, Calderón’s guitarrón provides the heartbeat, and Alfaro’s percussive and graceful guitar unifies. Inspired the likes of José Alfredo Jiménez, Linda Ronstadt, Rosie Hamlin, and Alice Bag, La Victoria plays music that connects with audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
