About the Program

Writers Bloc Presents® and the Skirball invite you to hear from Man Booker International Award–winning author David Grossman. Joining us from Israel for this virtual talk, Grossman will discuss his new book, More Than I Love My Life, with author and USC professor David L. Ulin.

More Than I Love My Life is the story of three strong women: Vera, age ninety; her daughter, Nina; and her granddaughter, Gili. Together, they travel to Goli Otok, a barren island off the coast of Croatia where Vera was imprisoned for three years after she refused to denounce her husband as an enemy of the people. This unlikely journey lays bare the intertwining of fear, love, and mercy, and the complex overlapping demands of romantic and parental passion.

A limited number of signed bookplates are available from Chevalier’s Books.
