Poetry and Memory

The Work of Carine Topal and Dorothy Barresi with Special Guest John Densmore

Sunday, April 8, 2:00 p.m.

About the Program

Two stellar poets of the LA literary world and a legend of the rock world come together for this third annual celebration of National Poetry Month copresented by the Skirball, Beyond Baroque, and the Los Angeles Poetry Festival. Be there for a lively afternoon of contemporary poetry read by poet Carine Topal, American Book Award winner Dorothy Barresi, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member John Densmore of The Doors.

Featured among the works is Topal’s must-read collection In Order of Disappearance, praised by Virginia Poet Laureate Kelly Cherry as “beautiful and elegant, written with authority and care.” Barresi will read from her latest work, What We Did While We Made More Guns, deemed “powerful and arresting” by poet Lynn Emanuel. And Densmore will read selections from Wide Awake: Poets of Los Angeles and Beyond and perform other select poems with music.

Suzanne Lummis, series editor of Pacific Coast Poetry Series, an imprint of Beyond Baroque Books, will host the program.

Meet the authors at a reception following the program!
