Meet Luis Verdin, Audrey’s Lead Sales Associate. Luis has been with us for over two years where he started working in Security. Luis sat down with us to discuss some of his interests and tell us a little more about his work as a member of Audrey’s here at the Skirball Cultural Center.
Q: Tell us about an exhibition that you’ve enjoyed here at the Skirball.
A: I really liked This Light of Ours because it showcased the resilience, willingness, and courage of the American people who worked so hard to build a more perfect union. It shows that progress is inevitable when people stand together in times of adversity.
Q: Describe a Skirball event you had the opportunity to attend. What made it special for you?
A: Professional Development Day 2024. It was my first time attending, and it was special because, after the pandemic, my professional life hadn’t been as stable as I had hoped. Being fully employed at the Skirball, an institution whose values I truly cherish, was a significant step in both my personal and professional life.
Q: What's one activity you prioritize outside of the Skirball? How does it interact with the work you do here?
A: I recently got back into reading for fun and to gain knowledge. It’s been helpful at work because I can talk about some of the books we have at the store!
Q: Tell us about a coworker who has gone above and beyond to represent the Skirball in their work.
A: Melissa Swafford’s professional experience, friendly personality, and natural talent for making Audrey’s an inviting, interesting, and attractive space make working with her a wonderful experience.
Q: What are you looking forward to learning more about yourself in the following year?
A: I’m looking forward to starting school again and finishing college, a goal I didn’t complete back in my home country.
Q: Anything else you'd like to share?
A: I recently became an American citizen after many years of being a legal resident!
Congratulations to Luis! We are thrilled by the commitment he consistently brings to our community.
