Have you ever felt righteously indignant? Unseen? Disrespected? Angry upon experiencing or witnessing injustice? One of the many hearts of punk rock contains the veins of rebellious, transgressive actions that speak truth to conventionally held beliefs about power, authority, and popular culture. In “Write Your Heart Out!” we invite you to explore your inner punk rocker, even if you never thought you had one. Writers across all genres and experience levels are welcome. We’ll see some art, listen to some tunes, and write ‘til we drop! 

Instructor: Lesley Hyatt teaches writing and mindfulness to students of all ages. She holds an MFA in English and fiction writing and is the author of myriad essays, short stories, and poems. Hyatt received an Outstanding Instructor award for her work as a creative writing instructor at UMass, Amherst. She is a former Fulbright Scholar.
