About the Class
Los Angeles looms large in the global imagination, a city where dreams are made or shattered, where the land is beautiful...and deadly. Los Angeles inspires songs, paintings, photographs, films, movies, television shows, books, and short stories. In this eight-week class, we'll explore some of the stories told about our fabled city using the anthology Writing Los Angeles, edited by David L. Ulin. We'll read short stories and novel chapters, investigating how a variety of writers contribute to the myths of Los Angeles. We'll write our own LA stories, working with both fiction and creative non-fiction.
All levels of experience are welcome.
Instructor: Megan McCord has an MFA from Antioch University Los Angeles where she teaches writing in the Bridge Program.
