About the Class

Mindful meditation shares rich commonality with the ancient Jewish concept of Yishuv Hadaas, which translates to "settling into present-moment awareness." Studies in neuroscience and psychology have shown the practice to be an effective tool to promote inner peace, calm, balance, and composure—and a means to help mitigate negative effects of stress, exhaustion, and overwhelm. Join us for this four-session monthly course with MMTCP Certified Mindfulness Teacher, Mark Landsman, as we explore the essential foundations of mindfulness and the many ways it can enhance Jewish life. The course will offer pragmatic tools to help us awaken more fully to present moment experience, and meet whatever arises with greater ease, skill, and compassion.

Instructor: Mark Landsman is a certified MMTCP Mindfulness Meditation instructor under the guidance of Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, the Awareness Training Institute and UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center. Mark brings over 25 years of experience in mindfulness meditation and somatic-based trainings that include tai chi, qi gong, aikido, hatha yoga, Alexander Technique, and Body Mind Centering. Mark has brought mindfulness trainings and consultations to such clients as Public Counsel, the nation's largest provider of pro-bono legal services; award-winning production companies such as Brave New Films; and the How We Feel Project, in conjunction with Pinterest and Yale University's Center for Emotional Intelligence.
