About the Class

Our workshop will begin with a visit to Skirball’s The American Library, which explores themes of citizenship, home, and national identity. Each week participants will create original writing, working with accessible in-class writing prompts, all of which reflect similar themes. Here, writers will begin to articulate their own mosaic of personal identity. Those brand new to creative writing along with experienced writers are welcome.

Instructor: Lesley Hyatt teaches writing and mindfulness to students of all ages. She holds an MFA in English and fiction writing and is the author of myriad essays, short stories, and poems. Hyatt received an Outstanding Instructor award for her work as a creative writing instructor at UMass, Amherst. She is a former Fulbright Scholar.
