About the Program
Dis-order is at once an immersive performance, a communal ritual, and a family drama. A reimagining of the Passover seder, the piece asks what forces move through us when we enact an ancient spring rite, and what is left unspoken when we gather around the table.
Directed by Mamie Green, Volta Collective fuses physicality, theatricality, and multidisciplinary approaches to performance. Green’s work lives across a variety of artistic mediums to engage diverse audiences and break the boundaries of contemporary dance.
Following Volta dance company’s Dis-order, students will explore vivid themes of chaos and rebirth through art and play—frogs, floods, and wild imagination included. This afternoon of mask making inspired by ancient stories of liberation and renewal is led by LA-based self-taught puppeteers, Freak Nature Puppets.
