About the Class
This eight-week short story writing class is open to all levels of experience. You’ll develop a writing process, read short stories, use prompts to encourage creative flow, and write your own short stories. You’ll bring your stories to life in a low-pressure environment and safe space to express yourself creatively in your unique style and voice. You’ll read a short story each week and discuss it as a reader and a writer. You’ll use in-class writing prompts to inspire ideas for your own stories or enhance ideas you already have. You’ll develop your stories through group work, constructive feedback, and revision. Our last class will include an all-class reading and celebration of your work.
Instructor: Megan McCord has an MFA from Antioch University Los Angeles where she teaches writing in the Bridge Program. She is a Los Angeles native, lifelong California resident, and lover of stories and storytelling. Her three cats allow her to live with them in Studio City where she also teaches yoga.
