About the Program
As we celebrate Sukkot, we think about how ephemeral home can be. This show features true stories that explore the spaces in which we live and dares to ask the question, “What makes a family?” Delight as a young woman answers an ad to rent an apartment, and discovers the family she didn’t know she was missing. Feel the yearning of a Russian Jew willing to lose everything—his language, his country, even his family—to pursue a place that will give him freedom. Delve into the musings of a Rabbi as she admires how the spirit of her adopted community, ripped apart in a hurricane, mirrors the uncompromising tradition of building a sukkah. These and many other stories will pull at your heart and affirm the importance of family, community, and home.
Presented by The Braid, the Go-To Jewish Story Company. For nearly two decades, The Braid has created a unique artform at the intersection of storytelling and theatre, in which professional actors bring to life true stories that dramatize and share the diverse stories of a diverse Jewish people.
