Scheduled Activities
Skirball Sukkah—Every year, the Skirball installs a sukkah in Founders Courtyard, offering shelter to anyone who would like to eat, reflect, and enjoy during regular hours.
Sukkah Decorations—Celebrate the Jewish harvest festival of Sukkot by creating a fruit shaped decoration for your sukkah or home. (Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, September 3–October 4)
Sukkot—Commemorating the journey of the Israelites through the desert after their exodus from Egypt and the bountiful fall harvest. (September 25–October 2)
Beneath the Harvest Moon—Join us for an immersive evening of live music, hands-on art activities, and cultural traditions in an outdoor gathering that connects us to the spirit of the Sukkot holiday. (Thursday, September 24, 7:00 pm)
Common Ground Dinner—Sukkot: Many Paths, One Table—Enjoy a thoughtfully curated meal, engaging conversation, and artistic experiences that invite us to reflect on what it means to create a place of belonging for all. (Wednesday, September 30, 6:30 pm)
Zeidler's Lunch Specials—Zeidler's Café will offer a special menu featuring foods with various fillings and plenty of fall flavor, served to symbolize abundance and gratitude.
Visions and Values—Take a docent-led spotlight tour of Visions and Values highlighting Sukkot and other Jewish festivals.

Did you know?
With its glass façade, soaring ceilings, and sunlit lobby, architect Moshe Safdie designed our main entrance to resemble a sukkah—an open, hut-like structure wherein hosts welcome guests during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot to share meals and stories. Founders Courtyard, located directly behind the lobby, shares similar architectural features with the addition of fabric panels swaying above.

Sukkot is a festive, week-long holiday celebrating gratitude, nature, and community. Families and friends gather in temporary outdoor huts, called a sukkah, to eat, socialize, and appreciate life’s simple joys. ("Sukkot" is the plural form of sukkah.)
