About the Program
Be among the first to explore the galleries! All galleries will be open for viewing starting at 12:00 pm.
Draw Them In, Paint Them Out: Trenton Doyle Hancock Confronts Philip Guston explores resonant connections between the artwork of Philip Guston and Trenton Doyle Hancock in dialogue for the first time and considers the role that artists play in the pursuit of social justice.
Glass Sukkah: This Home Is Not a House is a vibrant, large-scale artwork in the Skirball’s permanent collection by Black contemporary artist Therman Statom, who takes inspiration from the Jewish harvest festival of Sukkot. This exhibition encourages meditation on the temporary nature of shelter and the interplay between vulnerability and resilience.
TORN Project presents thirty-six collages created by contemporary artist Susan Lerner in the wake of Hamas’s deadly terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023. Lerner began the series in March 2024 when she discovered torn-down pieces of “Kidnapped from Israel” hostage posters in her New York City neighborhood.
Reservations are not required to view the galleries on this day. They are required for the Curator Talk. Gallery attendance is based on membership level.
