About the Workshop
Practice basic hand-building pottery techniques in this one-session intergenerational workshop as you create a functional and meaningful piece of Judaica. Working together, each intergenerational pair will build a unique hanukkiah, incorporating natural textures to create a one-of-a-kind decorative surface. After the workshop, each piece will be professionally glazed by the instructor in the color of your choice and kiln-fired, ready to be enjoyed as a lasting family keepsake for many Hanukkah celebrations to come.
Our workshop will begin with a special docent-led discussion of several hanukkiot from the Skirball’s collection, offering a rare opportunity to learn about their history and artistry while finding inspiration before creating your own hanukkiah.
Instructor: Allison Goodman has been an artist and designer for over forty years practicing in the fields of graphic design, environmental design, and ceramics. Her degrees are Carnegie-Mellon University (BFA) and the ArtCenter College of Design (MFA), where her studies of Digital Theory have inspired her latest experiments in 3D printed ceramics. Allison's Judaica-inspired ceramics can be found in Skirball's Audrey's Museum Store.
