About the Online Class
Join us for an engaging, four-part Complicated Hearts Movie Discussion Series via Zoom. Over four 90-minute sessions, we'll explore films that challenge traditional relationship narratives and dive deep into the messy, beautiful complexity of human connections. These aren't your typical rom-coms; they're sophisticated explorations of how people actually love, hurt, heal, and connect in all their imperfect glory. From workplace dynamics that blur professional and personal boundaries to family relationships that defy easy categorization, these films offer rich material for discussion. Each movie presents relationships that feel authentically complicated, where characters make questionable choices, love doesn't always conquer all, and happy endings aren't guaranteed (much like real life).
Facilitator: Theodore Rand has led previous film discussion groups at the Skirball on the films of Billy Wilder, the Coen Brothers, and Wes Anderson, among others. He is a graduate of New York University and has held technology innovation positions at Miramax, Yahoo! Media Group, Fox Networks, and the Walt Disney Company.
