About the Festival

Wonder and merriment await at the Skirball Puppet Festival. During this fan-favorite, family-focused event, puppets of all shapes and sizes will be walking, soaring, and stomping about ready to meet you! Discover pockets of fun as you move between performances big and small from some of Southern California’s premier puppetry acts.

Make sure to catch our raucous puppet party—featuring live music—where festival goers, puppeteers, and puppets all meet up to shake a leg.

While you’re here, design a puppet with imagination-sparking materials so your newly created pal can join the fun, too!

  • See dazzling puppetry performances from One Grain of Sand Puppet Theater, The Gottabees, East Wind Lion Dancers, Rescue Rue, Leslie Grey, and more!
  • Add color to your day with pop up micro performances and discover roaming puppets like giant dragons and curious creatures created by Robin Walsh, Sherry Layne, and others!
  • Go "behind the curtain" as you get a crash course in puppetry with the Rogue Artists Ensemble!

Adding to the magic are two wildly fun puppet parties, where festivalgoers and puppeteers all meet up to enjoy live music featuring the feel-good reggae stylings of Upstream.

"The fun and excitement never stops! The puppeteers are always so amazing and engaging."
